Features
Home Ledger is a planner, not a bank feed. You enter your regular income, bills and balances once, and it does the sums.
Net worth, cash, loans and your monthly surplus at a glance, plus every bill due in the next 60 days.
Recurring income and bills by category, converted to monthly figures so you know exactly where money goes.
Balances for every account, regular transfers between them, and a month-by-month plan for each one.
Payoff dates, interest still to pay, a nudge before your fixed rate ends, and what overpaying would save.
Project your pot at retirement and the yearly income it could give you, against the target you set.
See where your net worth could be in 1, 5, 10 or 25 years if you keep to your current plan.
Test a change before you make it, such as a redundancy and a new job, cutting back to lean spending, or paying off a loan. See net worth, savings and your cash cushion over 1, 2 and 5 years, and what to do with a lump sum.
Financial to-dos with a date and time, linked to the bill, account or loan they’re about. You get an email on the day, so nothing slips.
Invite a partner or family member to view or edit the ledger. They use their own account, and you approve each person and choose their access.
Download every section as a spreadsheet whenever you like. It’s your data and your copy.
Take a look
These are real screens from Home Ledger, filled with its example household.
Add each bill once, weekly, monthly, quarterly or yearly, and Home Ledger turns it into a monthly figure. Category totals show at a glance what your household really costs to run.
Try an overpayment and see the result straight away. In the example, an extra €200 a month clears the mortgage 3 years and 10 months sooner and saves about €19,962 in interest.
Your recurring plan, projected forward. Watch loans shrink, your pension grow and your net worth climb, over 1, 5, 10 or 25 years.
Add Home Ledger to your home screen and it opens full screen, like an app. Lists fold down to one line each, so you can check a bill or update a balance in seconds.
Why Home Ledger
One place shows what comes in, what goes out and what’s left, instead of a dozen apps, statements and spreadsheets.
Bills due soon, overdue reminders and a fixed rate about to end are flagged before they become a surprise.
Test an overpayment, a pension target or a bigger savings transfer, and see the long-term effect before you commit.
No bank connections and no ads. Your figures are encrypted so that only you can read them.
Security
Everything you enter is encrypted on your own device before it is saved. The database only ever holds scrambled data, so nobody else can read it: not other users, not Google or Facebook, and not the people who run this site. The only people who can read your figures are ones you invite.
Your figures are locked with AES-256 in your browser, so they leave your device already encrypted.
Your key is unlocked by your passphrase, Face ID or fingerprint. It is never sent to or stored on a server.
Anyone with full access to the database, including the site’s administrators, sees only encrypted data. There’s no master key.
Unlock with a passkey on iPhone, Mac, Android or Windows Hello. Synced passkeys follow you to a new phone.
A recovery key that only you keep, and the option to approve a new device from one you’re already signed in on.
You type your figures in. Home Ledger never asks for bank logins and can never move money.
Because only you hold the key, nobody can reset it for you. When you set up, you’ll get a recovery key to keep somewhere safe.
Questions
No. You enter your income, bills and balances yourself, and update balances from your statements when you like. That keeps it simple and means no bank logins are ever shared.
Only you, plus anyone you invite to your ledger. Your data is encrypted on your device with a key unlocked by your passphrase, Face ID or fingerprint. Your sign-in provider, the database and the site’s administrators only ever see encrypted data. The one exception is the What if assistant, which sends a summary of your figures (never your name, PPS number or dates of birth) and the question you type to DeepSeek when you use it, so avoid putting names in a question.
Yes. In Settings, under Security, create an invite link and send it to them. They sign in with their own account, and their own data stays separate. You approve them and choose whether they can view or edit. Removing someone changes the key that opens the ledger, so they lose access for good.
Unlock with Face ID or your fingerprint, use the recovery key you saved during setup, or approve your new device from one you’re already signed in on. Then choose a new passphrase. If all of those are lost, the data can’t be recovered by anyone. That’s what keeps it private.
Yes. It works in any modern browser. On iPhone, open it in Safari and choose Share, then Add to Home Screen, and it opens full screen like an app.
Yes. Each reminder with a due date is emailed to your sign-in address on that day, at the time you choose (08:00 if you don’t set one). The email doesn’t include the reminder itself, because your figures are encrypted. To send it on time, the server needs to know the due date and time and your email address, though not what the reminder says.
Fill in the form, or ask in your own words. The assistant sets up the test, the app works out every figure, and the assistant explains the result. A test never changes your ledger unless you save it, and saved tests are encrypted with the rest of your data. The results depend on assumptions you can see and change, such as investment growth and Irish tax rates, so check those against your own situation.
Any time. Export to Excel downloads every section as a workbook you can keep.
Sign in with Google, Facebook or email and choose a passphrase. You’ll start with an example household so you can see how it all fits together, then replace it with your own figures or clear it in one tap.
Set up in a couple of minutes. Start with example figures, then make them yours.
